Favourite Kiss

Brendan and I watched Babel a couple weeks ago while we were trying to watch as many Oscar nominated movies as we could before the Academy Award show. I really enjoyed the movie and I have now found my favourite movie kiss! As Cate lay bleeding on the floor of some hut in Morocco from a gun shot wound she told her hubby Brad that she peed her pants. Brad asked her if she had to go again and he got her a pan of some sort for her to go in. He lifted up her skirt or blanket or whatever was covering her and positioned the pan properly so she could pee again. And while the pan was in place, they kissed such a beautifully sweet kiss. These two had been having problems in their marriage and this vacation was supposed to help them reconnect. I know I did not describe some steamy, hot, tingley kiss, but this gets my vote for best movie kiss. It was a kiss of true love, of commitment, of trust, a forever kind of love, not the typical kiss of lust often seen in movies. Brings a tear to my eye, the simpleness of it, the humanity of it.

Okay so I guess I'll be the second person to comment. (Oh T, how did you beat me to it??) Now I want to see Babel more than ever. I am always up for seeing (/experiencing!) a great kiss. Guess what - I just saw "Children of Men" tonight. It was strangely bizarre . . . a good show though. A real thinker.

Now I will share my favourite movie kiss: There is a scene in "A Lot Like Love" where Amanda Peet is at a New Year's part with Ashton (who is using the washroom). The countdown to midnight begins and suddenly she sees her ex-fiancee across the room with his new girlfriend (or finacee . . . can't remember). Anyhow, Amanda is clearly quite distressed and seems headed for a breakdown when the count hits two, then one and then . . . Ashton comes out of NOWHERE and kisses her SO soundly. In essence, he saved the day. It is awesome. If only . . .

Wow. Just ready that made me want to tear up. lol. It really was a good kiss mostly because it was all about the love and dedication and commitment to eachother. How he loved her so much to do all that for her.
